LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
LG counter-depth refrigerators provide plenty of storage into a small footprint. They're also priced lower than many standard-depth French door fridges and can eliminate the necessity for a separate, smaller under-counter freezer. The LG Smart Mirror InstaView counter-depth refrigerator (LMWC23626S) is no exception, offering the capacity of a standard refrigerator in an elegant, modern design with an internal dispenser for easy access to the water filter.

This model's exterior showcases a fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish and a mirrored InstaView panel that adds to the modern look of the interior. The door bins are spacious and the top shelf can be folded down to create half-depth shelves that allow taller items to fit. A set of crisper drawers can be found in the lower part of the refrigerator and the deli drawer with a full width is suitable for meat or produce.
The refrigerator features a recessible icemaker on the back wall. This saves space and allows you to store more bags of ice. The refrigerator uses door-cooling that makes use of vents in the freezer and fridge doors to bring cold air into the refrigerator. It helps prevent hot spots and helps keep temperatures more consistent throughout the fridge.
This LG refrigerator stood out during our tests. It has plenty of space to serve a family, but we noticed a few unsettling flaws. The drawers for the freezer aren't as cold as we'd like. The temperature of the middle drawer was 41° during our highest use test, which is the temperature needed to freeze ice cream and other frozen foods. The temperature in the rest of your freezer was at around 36 degrees.
The doors of the refrigerator also have handles that are sunken and make it difficult for those with smaller hands to close. It may seem like a minor issue however, we prefer front-mounted handles on refrigerators, which make them easier to open and close.
The fridge is expensive, but it's worth the investment for anyone who wants an ultra-sleek look in their kitchen. This refrigerator is ideal for those who want to upgrade their existing fridge or are building new homes and want a seamless look in the kitchen.
Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
Samsung's newest counter-depth French door fridge called the RF23M8090SG price tag is $4200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performs well in our cooling tests, though we're not fans of its plastic handles and the bins with a crisper design appear a bit fragile.
Bespoke is a feature that makes the RF23M8090SG stand out. It allows you to personalize your refrigerator using removable colored panels. There are 11 different color options with pastels through more bright colors. There are four metallic finishes. The panels can be customized to include photos or text. This will make the fridge more personal and can be matched to your Rick Owens dress, Andy Warhol banana neon or tie-dye Crocs.
The LED lighting can be altered to a different color, which is a nice feature. The interior of the refrigerator has an intelligent finish that reduces the chance of smudges, and also makes cleaning easy. The only real drawbacks of the RF23M8090SG is its crowded beverage center, and it takes some effort to access the door-indoor feature that houses a water dispenser and the pitcher. You must feel for an opening on the underside of the door halfway across, and when you do you will be able to open another door inside the fridge, which houses the docking station for the pitcher as well as the water dispenser, and two shelves for drinks.
The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is big enough to accommodate a large amount of frozen foods, and it features an impressive slide-out drawer system that lets you access whichever food you're looking for without opening the whole compartment. There's also a butter-bin-style compartment in the freezer for easy storage of small items and a drawer with a huge capacity which can store larger frozen items. The drawer can be locked using an access code to keep unwanted guests out, and it includes a handy LED light so you can see what's inside at an instant. The freezer can also monitor the energy consumption and help you lower your power bills by using the SmartThings Energy Mode.
french door fridge freezers add a clean look to any kitchen, and are a good fit in different sizes of rooms. Counter-depth refrigerators are the best option if you're looking for this design, but without the added height. This Frigidaire model, which we've tested extensively and received an above-average rating in our ratings because of its low cost and thoughtful features, such as an adjustable temperature drawer.
But it also has a few minor issues. Our tests show that the FGHB2866PF is able to warm up quite some in the freezer, and can get uncomfortably warm in the fridge's innermost shelves. This is evident in our heat maps which show how the interior temperatures fluctuate minute by minute. The butter bin in the orange section at the top right is extremely warm during our testing period. It might not appear too bad at first glance, but it means the fridge is spending a significant part of the time at 33 degrees.
It's important to note that this model isn't Energy Star certified, which could be important for certain buyers. However, the main issue is that it's not a particularly great fridge, and the lack of modern features and a sturdy construction make it hard to recommend over more expensive options at this price point.
This Frigidaire refrigerator is identical to the stainless steel version that you might see at your local appliance store. It's a safe option with a brushed finish that looks good and is impervious to smudges, but it doesn't do much to set itself apart from competitors that are more feature-rich and less expensive.
If you're looking for a counter-depth French-door refrigerator but don't want to spend much then the FGHC2331PF could be worth a look. It's got enough storage for most families, and it does a decent job keeping food fresh. Even even if it's not an energy efficient unit, it's still a lot cheaper than our best-rated models.
